Haxey Pre-School was established in 1975 and has transitioned from its origins as a parent-run playgroup to its current status as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).  Our aim has remained the same throughout; to provide high-quality affordable childcare to children aged from two to school starting age in a caring, supportive and stimulating environment.

Haxey Pre-School (CIO) is run by Joy Norouzi together with her experienced team and is registered as an early year’s provider.  Although it receives money through The Early Years Foundation Stage Funding, Haxey Pre-School CIO is a registered charity and relies on fundraising and charitable donations to meet its overheads.

Rising Fives

Our ‘Rising Fives’ children, due to start at primary school in our locality in the Autumn term, will be supported by our Haxey Pre-School staff in their transition to the school environment. Most of our children do move onto Haxey Primary School and we have established strong links with the school over many years; This is a fantastic opportunity for our children and enables them to become comfortable in the school environment before they start full time in the Autumn.

We also support children that move onto: Misterton Primary School, Misteron, St Martins School, Owston Ferry and Westwoodside Primary School, Westwoodside.

Core Values

We are committed to the four principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage which are:

  • Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

  • Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

  • The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.

  • Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.

We aim to provide an environment which is stimulating, caring and happy whilst abiding by all the statutory requirements of E.Y.F.S. Giving children the opportunity to develop mentally, physically and socially is paramount.

Care of the pupils is the responsibility of all the staff, whatever their role. Our intention is that Haxey Pre-School be a safe and friendly environment with activities that will help each and every child to develop mentally, physically and socially. Our activities are not constrained by attainment targets or levels of achievement.  They are tailored to the individual needs of the children.  We focus on learning and enjoyment through play.

What do parents think?

All four of my children have been to Haxey Pre-School, it is a fantastic, friendly environment. I can honestly say I couldn't have managed this year without Joy, she has been so supportive and kind.

I have nothing but praise for this Pre-School from the staff to setting! Both my children attended the Pre-School and thoroughly loved and thrived ready for when they went to big school.
Joanne Bayliss
All 3 of my girls attended this amazing place. Anybody wanting somewhere outstanding to prepare their children for full time education, would not find anywhere better than here.
